Christian America – Is it salt and light for the world?

Matthew 5:13–16: "You are the salt of the earth; but if salt has lost its taste, how can its flavor be restored? It is no longer good for anything, but is thrown out and trampled under foot. “You are the light of the world. A city built on a hill cannot be hid. No one after lighting a lamp puts it under the bushel basket, but on the lamp stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven."

After the Beatitudes, Jesus tells the disciples of their responsibility in society, in the world. The focus of God’s action is the world -- not simply the Church or Christians. ‘Let your light shine before people that they may see your good works and give glory to your father in heaven.’ It is about our deeds in the world.

The U.S. has been the strongest professing Christian country in history. ‘You Are Salt & Light - Equipping Christians for These Last Days' is a book written by Bob Fraley. In this book he gives guidelines for readers for personal reflection and learning. Bob Fraley defines America as the country God rose up to be 'Salt and Light' -the center of Christianity-- in these last days. However, just as Satan often destroyed the calling of the Jewish nation, he now has his eyes set on destroying "Christian America."
