About Simple Breathing Meditations and How to do breathing meditaton?

Purpose of breathing meditation:

The purpose of the breathing meditation is to calm the mind and develop inner peace.
We can use this simple breathing meditations alone or as a preliminary practice to reduce our distractions before going to other advanced breathing meditations.

A Simple Breathing Meditation

The first stage of meditation is to stop distractions and make our mind clearer and more lucid. This can be accomplished by practicing this  simple breathing meditation.

How to do the simple breathing meditation?

First, Choose a quiet place to meditate and sit in a comfortable position.
You can sit in the traditional cross-legged posture or in any other position that is comfortable to you.
If you wish, you can sit in a chair.
The most important thing is to keep your back straight to prevent your mind from becoming sluggish or sleepy.


Now sit with your eyes partially closed and turn your attention to your breathing.
Breathe naturally, preferably through the nostrils.
Don't attempt to control your breath.
Try to become aware of the sensation of the breath as it enters and leaves the nostrils.
This sensation is your object of meditation.
You should try to concentrate on it to the exclusion of everything else.

What will happen when you meditate?

At first, your mind will be very busy.
You may feel that the meditation is making your mind busier.
But in reality you're just becoming more aware of how busy your mind actually is.
There will be a great temptation to follow the different thoughts as they arise.
But you should resist this and remain focused single-pointedly on the sensation of the breath.
If you discover that your mind has wandered and is following your thoughts, you should immediately return it to the breath.
You should repeat this as many times as necessary until the mind settles on the breath.

If you practise patiently in this way, gradually your distracting thoughts will subside.
You will experience a sense of inner peace and relaxation.
Your mind will feel lucid and spacious and you will feel refreshed. 


Your distracting thoughts is calmed through concentrating on the breath, your mind becomes unusually lucid and clear.
You should stay with this state of mental calm for a while.
Even though this simple breathing meditation is only a preliminary stage of meditation, it can be quite powerful.
You can see it from this simple breathing meditation practice.
By doing this regularly, it is possible to experience the inner peace and contentment just by controlling the mind, without having to depend at all upon external conditions.

When the distracting thoughts subsides and your mind becomes still, a deep happiness and contentment naturally arises from within yourself.
This feeling of contentment and well-being helps you to cope with the busyness and difficulties of your daily life.
The stress and tension you normally experience comes from your mind, and many of the problems you experience, including ill health, are caused or aggravated by this stress.
Just by doing this simple breathing meditation for ten or fifteen minutes each day, you will be able to reduce this stress.
You will experience a calm, spacious feeling in the mind, and many of your usual problems will fall away.
Difficult situations will become easier to deal with and you will naturally feel warm and well disposed towards other people.
Your relationships with others will gradually improve.
