Step 1:

Spread your body on the floor.

Let the limbs relax completely.

Close your eyes.


Step 2:


For two minutes suggest to yourself that the body is relaxing.

Gradually the body will become relaxed.

Then for next two minutes suggest that your breathing is becoming tranquil.

Gradually the breathing will become quiet.

Then for another two minutes suggest that thoughts are coming to a halt.

Note :

Make no attempt to control your breathing.

Let flow completely naturally.

Be as attentive as possible.

Result:

This willed auto-suggestion leads to complete relaxation and emptiness.
The breath diminishes and leads to the meditative state.

This calms the mind and stills thoughts.
You’ll receive more cosmic energy.
When the mind has become perfectly calm, be totally awake in your inner being.

Be a witness to the tranquility.

This witnessing will lead you to your self.

Step 1:

Sit upright with a straight spine.

Relax your body.

Close your eyes.

Look at the point midway between the eyebrows on your forehead.

Step 2:

While concentrating your attention at the point between the eyebrows,

Inhale slowly, counting to eight.

Hold the breath for eight counts.

Exhale slowly for eight counts.

Repeat six times.

Step 3:

When breath comes in, mentally say Hong (rhymes with song).

When you exhale, mentally say Sau (rhymes with saw).

Note :

Make no attempt to control your breathing.

Let flow completely naturally.

Try to feel that your breath itself is silently making the sounds of Hong and Sau.

Try to feel the breath at the point where it enters the nostrils.

Be as attentive as possible.

Be sure that your gaze is kept steady at the point between the eyebrows.

Result:

The breath diminishes and leads to the meditative state.

The Road to Developing Intuition


Have you had that experience when all of a sudden you just had this huge hunch that something is about to happen, and to your surprise, that intuition was eventually translated to reality?

When you feel strongly about something without logical basis to it, that's called intuition. It comes in three impressions: clairvoyance or "the third eye", sensing clearly and feeling through listening.

Clairvoyance is when your eye goes beyond what it can see. This is when you know what is happening somewhere.

Sensing clearly is basically what we refer to as "hunch" or "gut feel." This is the time when you are overwhelmed with a feeling and you can't explain it and all you can say is "I just know."

On the other hand, feeling through listening or clairaudience is being able to "listen" between the lines. Intuition also happens at times when a certain sound, whatever it is - be it a car's honk or a bird's twitting - ushers in an intense feeling.

They say only a number of people are gifted with intuition. Astrologers even insist that people born under the Scorpio or Pisces signs are naturally intuitive it almost borders on E.S.P. But studies have been sprouting left and right that proclaim that anyone can develop intuition.

Why the need to develop intuition, you ask? Why not let your emotional and psychological state as it is? First and foremost, intuition promotes good communication. It makes you more sensitive to the people around you; it often keeps you from hurting those you love because you are intuitive enough to understand them. Intuition also makes you far more creative than ever. Intuition means releasing more creative juices for any means of expression. Lastly, intuition has a healing power. This healing power is not in the physical sense, but in delving deep into your soul to eradicate some negative energy buried in it.

1. Hypnosis

2. Meditation

Meditating means finding peace in yourself. 3. Think positive!

4. Just let go.

What does this mean? If you are on the brink of making a huge decision, let go of all the inhibitions and head to a quiet place where you could find out where the letting go has brought you. Sometimes you just have to listen to the voice within you, and that voice wouldn't come out unless you let go.

5. Never expect.

After letting go of the inhibitions and all those things that stop you from thinking and feeling clearly, never expect for an answer right away. Never expect that the "hunch" would fall on your lap immediately. Give it a little time then you'd just get surprised that -- wham! -- now you have your answer.

6. Believe in your first impressions.

When you see someone for the first time and think that he is a bit too arrogant for your taste, chances are that impression actually holds true. Most of the time, first impressions are brought by intuition.

7. Stay happy!

See? All you need to be intuitive is to stay happy! Happiness attracts immense power and such power includes intuition. In tapping your intuition, your motivation must be happiness and contentment. Given that premise, intuition will fall to you easily.

Intuition is helpful, because sometimes it leads you to something that cannot be achieved otherwise. A lot of lives have been saved by intuition alone. Decisions are easier done if armed by this gift. Develop intuition now and reap benefits you have never imagined.

Meditation is a must for All

Meditation refers to a state where your body and mind are consciously relaxed and focused. Practitioners of this art report increased awareness, focus, and concentration, as well as a more positive outlook in life.

Meditation is most commonly associated with yogis, monks, mystics and other spiritual disciplines. However, you don’t have to be a monk or mystic to enjoy its benefits. And you don’t even have to be in a special place to practice it. You could even try it in your own living room!

There are many different approaches to meditation. But, the fundamental principles remain the same. The most important among these principles is that of removing obstructive, negative, and wandering thoughts and fantasies, and calming the mind with a deep sense of focus. This clears the mind of debris and prepares it for a higher quality of activity.

The negative thoughts you have – those of noisy neighbors, bossy officemates, that parking ticket you got, and unwanted spam– are said to contribute to the ‘polluting’ of the mind, and shutting them out is allows for the ‘cleansing’ of the mind so that it may focus on deeper, more meaningful thoughts.

Some practitioners even shut out all sensory input – no sights, no sounds, and nothing to touch – and try to detach themselves from the commotion around them. You may now focus on a deep, profound thought if this is your goal. It may seem deafening at first, since we are all too accustomed to constantly hearing and seeing things, but as you continue this exercise you will find yourself becoming more aware of everything around you.

If you find the meditating positions you see on television threatening – those with impossibly arched backs, and painful-looking contortions – you need not worry. They are all hatha yoga (ancient Indian yoga related your body posture). The principle here is to be in a comfortable position conducive to concentration. This may be while sitting cross-legged, standing, lying down, and even walking.

If the position allows you to relax and focus, then that would be a good starting point. While sitting or standing, the back should be straight, but not tense or tight. In other positions, the only no-no is slouching and falling asleep.

Loose, comfortable clothes help a lot in the process since tight fitting clothes have a tendency to choke you up and make you feel tense.

The place you perform meditation should have a soothing atmosphere. It may be in your living room, or bedroom, or any place that you feel comfortable in. You might want an exercise mat if you plan to take on the more challenging positions (if you feel more focused doing so, and if the contortionist in you is screaming for release). You may want to have the place arranged so that it is soothing to your senses.

Silence helps most people relax and meditate, so you may want a quiet, isolated area far from the ringing of the phone or the humming of the washing machine. Pleasing scents also help in that regard, so stocking up on aromatic candles isn’t such a bad idea either.

The monks you see on television making those monotonous sounds are actually performing their mantra. This, in simple terms, is a short creed, a simple sound which, for these practitioners, holds a mystic value.

You do not need to perform such; however, it would pay to note that focusing on repeated actions such as breathing, and humming help the practitioner enter a higher state of consciousness.

The principle here is focus. You could also try focusing on a certain object or thought, or even, while keeping your eyes open, focus on a single sight.

One sample routine would be to – while in a meditative state – silently name every part of you body and focusing your consciousness on that part. While doing this you should be aware of any tension on any part of your body. Mentally visualize releasing this tension. It works wonders.

In all, meditation is a relatively risk-free practice and its benefits are well worth the effort (or non-effort – remember we’re relaxing).

Studies have shown that meditation does bring about beneficial physiologic effects to the body. And there has been a growing consensus in the medical community to further study the effects of such. So in the near future, who knows, that mystical, esoteric thing we call meditation might become a science itself!

Over the past 30 years some of us have spent hours and hours doing aerobic exercises to maintain our body fitness and keep us looking good. We have attended dance studios, step classes, hi and lo impact classes, some of us have even attempted martial arts and water aerobics! In a nutshell, we have put a great deal of time and effort to keep time and nature at bay.

We've accepted it's important to maintain the outward appearance and keep our bodies trim. But what about your mind and brain?

The question is; have you spent the same amount of time on mental aerobics? Have you put in the same amount of effort to keep your mind and brain fit? 

Our minds and brains need help too. Just like our bodies, without the right type of exercise they deteriorate, become lethargic, unhealthy and resemble the behaviour of a couch potato.
But all is not lost.

Dr. Sara Lazar, a research scientist at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, has discovered a way in which we can keep our brains healthy. Something you can do everyday to stop the ageing process of your brain. In her research she used MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) to compare the brain structure of 30 people who lived in and around Boston in the US. She examined 15 people who meditated regularly and 15 people who had never meditated. 

She found that meditation: 

"increases the thickness of the cortex in areas involved in
attention and sensory processing, such as the prefrontal cortex
and the right anterior insula".

Now what does that mean to you and me?

The pre-frontal cortex is the part of the brain that is associated with decision making, planning and memory and naturally thins as we get older, thus reducing our ability to think clearly and make rational decisions.

This research shows that you don't have to be a professional meditator and practice meditation all day to stem the aging process. Anybody can do it.

When you meditate you are doing a type of aerobics that benefits the brain. Through daily meditation you are slowing the ageing process. You are having an effect on the deterioration of the brain tissue.

The good news is that you don't have to have been meditating for 30 years to gain this benefit. As Dr. Sara Lazar stated in an interview with CNN, 

"what we saw is -- the thickness was correlated with the
amount of practice they had. So even people with a just few
years of practice had bigger cortex".

In other words; it's never too late to start.

The secret is to find a meditation practice that suits you. One you enjoy doing. If you have tried meditation before and didn't feel comfortable with that practice don't give up try something else. It's the same as physical aerobic exercises; success comes from choosing the method you feel most comfortable with. The more you enjoy it the more time you will put in and the better the results.

The next step is yours. If you want to stem the ageing process of the brain, give yourself time each day to meditate.

Introspection goes beyond recalling the things that happened in a day, week, or month. You need to look closely and reflect on your thoughts, feelings, beliefs, and motivations. Periodically examining your experiences, the decisions you make, the relationships you have, and the things you engage in provide useful insights on your life goals, on the good traits you must sustain and the bad traits you have to discard. Like any skill, introspection can be learned; all it takes is the courage and willingness to seek the truths that lie within you. Religion and science have differing views on matters of the human spirit. Religion views people as spiritual beings temporarily living on Earth, while science views the spirit as just one dimension of an individual. Mastery of the self is a recurring theme in both Christian (Western) and Islamic (Eastern) teachings. The needs of the body are recognized but placed under the needs of the spirit. Beliefs, values, morality, rules, experiences, and good works provide the blueprint to ensure the growth of the spiritual being. In Psychology, realizing one’s full potential is to self-actualize. Maslow identified several human needs: physiological, security, belongingness, esteem, cognitive, aesthetic, self-actualization, and self-transcendence. James earlier categorized these needs into three: material, emotional, and spiritual. When you have satisfied the basic physiological and emotional needs, spiritual or existential needs come next. Achieving each need leads to the total development of the individual. Perhaps the difference between these two religions and psychology is the end of self-development: Christianity and Islam see that self-development is a means toward serving God, while psychology view that self-development is an end by itself.

To grow spiritually is to search for meaning.

Religions that believe in the existence of God such as Christianism, Judaism, and Islam suppose that the purpose of the human life is to serve the Creator of all things. Several theories in psychology propose that we ultimately give meaning to our lives. Whether we believe that life’s meaning is pre-determined or self-directed, to grow in spirit is to realize that we do not merely exist. We do not know the meaning of our lives at birth; but we gain knowledge and wisdom from our interactions with people and from our actions and reactions to the situations we are in. As we discover this meaning, there are certain beliefs and values that we reject and affirm. Our lives have purpose. This purpose puts all our physical, emotional, and intellectual potentials into use; sustains us during trying times; and gives us something to look forward to---a goal to achieve, a destination to reach. A person without purpose or meaning is like a drifting ship at sea.

To grow spiritually is to recognize interconnections.

Religions stress the concept of our relatedness to all creation, live and inanimate. Thus we call other people “brothers and sisters” even if there are no direct blood relations. Moreover, deity-centered religions such as Christianity and Islam speak of the relationship between humans and a higher being. On the other hand, science expounds on our link to other living things through the evolution theory. This relatedness is clearly seen in the concept of ecology, the interaction between living and non-living things. In psychology, connectedness is a characteristic of self-transcendence, the highest human need according to Maslow. Recognizing your connection to all things makes you more humble and respectful of people, animals, plants, and things in nature. It makes you appreciate everything around you. It moves you to go beyond your comfort zone and reach out to other people, and become stewards of all other things around you.

Growth is a process thus to grow in spirit is a day-to-day encounter. We win some, we lose some, but the important thing is that we learn, and from this knowledge, further spiritual growth is made possible.

You have probably come across exotic-sounding terms such as “chakra”, “prana”, “aura”, and “tantra” in your course of reading books on spirituality, sex, and healing in the New Age literature section of the bookstore. But what’s the real scoop behind these exotic vocabularies?

Are All Energy Healings the Same?

Chakra or energy center is a term used in Pranic healing, an ancient Hindu system of energy healing. “Prana” means life energy. “Aura” is another terminology traced to Pranic healing. Aura is a non-physical body that consists of energy, which exists along with our physical body. The aura that covers our body is said to have seven layers pertaining to the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual aspects of an individual as manifested by energy.
